History
The art of chocolate has a long traditionIn 1852 Aquilino Maestrani opened his own business in Lucerne, thus laying the foundation stone of Swiss chocolate art. Today, the company is owned by three families. Though not related to Aquilino, they have followed in his footsteps, adhering to the tradition which he founded. After maestrani took over the family enterprise Munz (in 1998), the owners built a new production plant in Flawil, to which they then relocated from St. Gallen. Since then the chocolate and confectionery specialities of the brands maestrani, MINOR and Munz, as well as private labels and chocolate for promotional purposes, have all been produced exclusively in Flawil.
