Sustainability Report 2026

Our Sustainability Strategy

As an independent family-owned company, we think in generations. For us, sustainability means taking responsibility with a long-term, holistic perspective. It guides our decisions across the entire value chain, from sourcing our raw materials to our partnerships and products. Our sustainability strategy sets out the areas in which we take responsibility and how we actively drive sustainable development.

Our Strategic Priorities

Beschaffen

The sustainable management of our supply chains forms the foundation of our sourcing strategy. Through close collaboration with our suppliers, clear requirements, and regular assessments, we create transparency and promote continuous improvement throughout the entire supply chain.

Our responsibility begins with the sourcing of our raw materials. Together with our suppliers, we promote responsible farming practices, strengthen long-term partnerships, and continuously improve our sourcing processes. Our key focus areas are sustainable cocoa sourcing and collaborative partnerships with our strategic suppliers.

Beschaffen

Our progress 2023 - 2025

Since 2023, we have conducted an annual Human Rights Due Diligence process in accordance with the OECD Guidelines. This enables us to identify and assess human rights risks throughout our supply chain and implement targeted measures to address them.

Regular supplier meetings and assessments enable the systematic development and continuous improvement of shared sustainability practices and objectives.

Our goals by 2028

Sourcing Strategy

Strengthen human rights throughout the supply chain

Through projects in our sourcing countries, we aim to further reduce risks across the ten key human rights issues.

Supplier Management

Promote sustainability among suppliers

At least 85% of our A-suppliers have a sustainability strategy in place.

Manufacturing

We promote diversity and equal opportunities while creating a working environment that supports health, safety, and personal development. The quality and safety of our products are our highest priorities. At the same time, we continuously improve the energy and resource efficiency of our production.

Sustainability is reflected in our day-to-day manufacturing operations. We create a workplace where people can grow and develop, ensure the highest standards of quality and product safety, and continuously improve our processes. By using energy, raw materials, and other resources responsibly, we increase production efficiency and reduce resource consumption.

The results of our employee health survey should exceed the respective industry average across all assessed areas.

Product Responsibility

Maintain the highest standards of product quality

All IFS audits are to be passed with a compliance score of over 95%.

CO₂ Emissions and Energy Consumption

Use energy more efficiently

We will reduce energy consumption per tonne of products manufactured to less than 75% of the 2018 baseline.

Circular Economy

Make packaging more circular

By 2030, more than 91% of our packaging materials will be recyclable.

Consumption

By continuously developing our products, we meet evolving consumer needs and keep our portfolio attractive. We foster collaborative relationships with our customers and work together to advance shared sustainability goals.

Glücksraum

Our progress 2023 - 2025

88% of our branded product portfolio already meets our defined requirements for natural ingredients and responsibly sourced raw materials.

Together with our private label customers, we successfully implemented two sustainability projects in the sourcing countries of our raw materials for the first time.

Our goals by 2028

Product Innovation and Development

Develop products together

We conduct at least five market research surveys and consumer tests each year.

Collaborative Business Relationships

Expand sustainability projects with customers

We aim to initiate or participate in at least three sustainability projects with our private label customers.

Our commitment in Sierra Leone

Through our commitment in Sierra Leone, we put our sourcing strategy into practice at origin. Together with partners across the value chain, we promote a fully traceable and certified cocoa supply chain. At the same time, a comprehensive development programme helps improve the livelihoods of around 7,000 cocoa farmers. Our focus is on human rights, deforestation-free supply chains, income diversification, and long-term climate resilience.

Efficiency improvements

Our commitment to continuous improvement is most evident where we can have the greatest direct impact – in production at our manufacturing site in Flawil, Switzerland. Through targeted investments in efficiency, digitalisation, and strategic partnerships, we continuously optimise our production processes while contributing to our environmental and economic sustainability goals.

One example of this ongoing improvement is the "Efficiency Improvements in Chocolate Mass Production" project, which we implemented together with our technology partner, Bühler Group in Uzwil. Patrik Keller, Head of Production and Logistics at Maestrani, explains the background and key outcomes of the project.
